This The Violette de Bordeaux (VdB) is a spectacular purple fig that has roots in France.

Known by many names including the Negronne, It is a fast grower that bears a prolific crop. It dates back to the 1600s where it has been said to have been found in the gardens of the palace of Versailles.Early writings of Garidel in 1715 mentions that the Negronne was found in nearly every vineyard in Aix in Southern France.

The VdB is a lovely tasty fig, great straight off the tree or in a salad. A true spectacular specimen and a must in any rare fig collection.
