A highly sought-after fig variety, Col de Dame Noir is prized for its delicious flavour and distinctive long neck. Its name evokes a “lady’s collar”, recalling the elegant high collars and jewelled necklaces once fashionable among French royalty.
The fruit has dark brown to almost black skin and rich red flesh. It produces a single crop late in the season and is considered by some to be the finest-tasting of the Col de Dame varieties.
I have only got a small tree of this one and it was given to me by a fellow fig enthusiast in Melbourne. It has not given me a proper crop so have not seen the actual fruit this with my own eyes therefore can not 100% assure it.
I have not got any more room in my garden so am selling these at discount!
